Lead Software Integration Engineer - Control Systems

Are you a creative software engineer that would like to develop future solutions for sustainable transports? Then, we are an enthusiastic team doing research and advanced engineering with focus on control systems that would like to have you as a colleague!
We tackle future challenges such as sustainable transports, low energy consumption demands and emissions legislation constraints by providing the brain to all the powertrain systems of the Volvo Group. That is, we leverage on our expertise to design embedded software to control new powertrain products. We work agile and we believe that this is the way to go.
We further collaborate with external research partners and internal stake holders on solutions aiming for medium and long term products and we coach other teams across the organization in the field of embedded control systems.
Our key focus areas are:
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of efficient embedded control software for new powertrain stand-alone components, such as combustion engines, after-treatment systems, gearbox, etc.
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of complete powertrain control software for conventional as well as electrified drivelines
  • Exploitation of top-notch Academic Control Research for Customer Success
  • Supporting and coaching product development software engineers for improving their control strategy design skills
As a Software Integration Engineer you will be welcomed to a group of about 12 members working together to define and mature new control system concepts including algorithms, software and hardware. We are using agile methods and you will be part of a Scrum team that develop, implement, integrate and test control strategies for powertrain products through simulation and vehicle tests.
We value working prototypes and you will support the team mainly through software integration and configuration management to get future powertrain concepts operational. Also, software changes will be requested to improve strategies etc. and modifications are done primarily in, but not limited to, the transmission ECU.
You will act as a bridge between strategic development and more traditional product development and geographical location will be flexible in-between.
We are looking for a M.Sc. or PhD in Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent with some years of working experience with embedded software development.
Knowledge of control theory, powertrain systems, especially transmissions, etc. is a merit as well as software configuration management.
Working together is important to us and we would like you to have a collaborative mindset and very good communication skills in English.
