POSITION TITLE: Cost Engineering Manager – North America

LOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT: 7900 National Service Road, Greensboro, North Carolina (Guilford County)
POSITION DUTIES: Manage the local team and serve as strong partner to the Global Functional Managers by supporting the local requirements. Calculate and deliver cost objectives and analyses throughout the complete DVP cycle for component and vendor tooling according to Cost Engineering targets. Diagnose and propose savings opportunities and optimization in the cost structure. Perform cost analyses for piece cost and vendor tooling investments for tear downs of competitor trucks. Work with multiple materials within the metallic area as well as multiple production technologies. Lead the continuous development of knowledge improvement in areas such as material properties, material usage in specific applications, material cost and global spread, tooling and dies.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of experience as a Cost Engineer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience must include responsibilities in every phase of design cost process including value stream mapping. Experience in the following to perform part and vendor tooling – organic and inorganic surface treatments, 2D and 3D laser cutting, tube forming, MIG/MAG welding, TIG welding, forging, sand casting, high pressure die casting, low gravity casting, closed die forging and CNC machining, specific competence in manufacturing air tanks, fuel tanks, propeller shafts, braking systems, engine mounts and exhaust systems for trucks. Ability to use cost engineering specific tools such as TCPCM, SCHMALE, FTI and other systems such as CATIA, PRO-E, MCAD, VISIB, EXTER and RAPID.
TRAVEL: Occasional domestic and international travel.
