Business Team Leader

General Summary
Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all manufacturing operations of production, machinery, processing, and packaging departments. Develops priorities based on production introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials. Creates schedules and staffing requirements based on determined priorities. Establishes manufacturing and quality control standards and develops budget controls and plans. Requires a Bachelor's degree and three or more years of related experience, including supervision.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities
  • Overall responsibility for production safety, delivery, quality, and on-time performance
  • Cultural leader for developing and maintaining a daily emphasis on measurable continuous improvement and lean operations
  • Supervise and coach team (direct staff & support functions) in an accountable manner for meeting Manufacturing Operations goals and objectives
  • Hire, develop, and manage employees to achieve a high performing Production staff that is engaged and focused on improvement
  • Manage production to meet business goals for revenue, profit, and expenses
  • Achieve a high level of value-added work content with respect to customer order fulfillment - use of a daily lean methodology that is inclusive of all activities in and affecting production
  • Measure, track, visually communicate, and improve production efficiency and capacity using a daily continuous improvement methodology
  • Perform and oversee employee reviews, development, and training
  • Responsible for overall capacity and efficiency of production
Qualifications, Educational Skills and Experience
  • BS or BA preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated history in achieving production success through leading a continuous improvement culture
  • Demonstrated history in leading Production employees to meet business targets
  • Possess a working understanding of Lean tools and methods with respect to production environments
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Lean manufacturing environment
  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint)
  • Must be positive, outgoing, and able to communicate clearly and effectively
