There is now an opportunity for you to join us in the Simulation & NVH team at Powertrain Engineering Lyon as a Mechanical Simulation Engineer for Powertrain Systems.

We are a diverse team of 11 experienced engineers supporting product development with high quality structural simulations (static, dynamic, thermo-mechanical, acoustic) to drive the design of the Medium Duty engine from a durability feature perspective.
Our team performs also vibration measurements and acoustic analysis, so that you will be given the opportunity to enlarge your vision with this multidisciplinarity.
We are looking for a new team member that can focus on dynamic simulation (multi-body, modal…) in order to strengthen our ability to feed the future of engine development. Ambition of the team is to build professional excellence to deliver smart & calibrated answers on durability feature to our internal customers.
What does a Mechanical Simulation Engineer at Volvo Powertrain Engineering work with?
As a mechanical simulation engineer, you plan and perform mechanical analysis of engine parts using Multi-body or FEM simulation. You analyze the results and shall be able to recommend improvements and present the results to the internal customers. You ensure correlation with measurements.
Your work supports project feasibility studies, concept evaluations, detailed developments as well as quality issues solving. In order to find the best solution you understand the end customers need, taking all project and product requirements into account. You interact with many different product development engineers to maximize the usage of simulation in the validation process.
Furthermore, you are part of the Powertrain Engineering CAE network. You contribute in building efficient and realistic roadmaps for knowledge and methodology improvement and you make it happen.
Who are you? (Required knowledge/experience)
To be successful we believe that you have an analytical ability, like practical ideas, enjoy challenges and solving problems. You are well organized and like deliver results on time. A good knowledge of powertrain or automotive product development is valued.
You have a proven experience within structural simulation using multi-body and FEA methods, as well as a personal ambition to always perform better. You have a solid interest in technology. You will collaborate with colleagues within the Volvo Group all around the world, open-minded and communicative, you will easily work in our diverse environment.
Curious and autonomous, you have the potential to embrace a wider scope in the future.
- Master degree in physics, mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Skills in Multi-Body Simulation tools such as AVL-EXCITE
- Skills in FEA tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Experience in powertrain development is a merit
