Intern: Mechanical/Systems Engineer (Summer 2020)
We are currently looking for a student to work with our Complete Powertrain 13L Product Team as a Mechanical/Systems engineering intern. The student should be prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment; gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of engineering and new product development. As a valued member of the Complete Powertrain team within GTT, the student will have the opportunity to work directly with the engineering staff. GTT’s goal is to contribute to the student’s development, as well as providing an opportunity for the student to work in a business environment within the manufacturing industry. This position will report to the 13L Product Manager within Engineering.
-Assist with heavy truck powertrain component part and assembly analysis to help resolve actual or potential problems
-Coordinate activities with other departments within the Company, on a limited basis as necessary
-Project management activities
-Provide engineering support assistance for quality issues as required
-Miscellaneous technical data generation, analysis, and reporting
-Issues written and oral reports
-Assist team in identifying process improvements
-Support of component and system test activities
-Create spreadsheets and flow charts in support of staff projects
-Perform other routine engineering duties as assigned
-Utilize programming skills where needed.
-Attention to detail: Analysis of large amounts of data and drawing conclusions. Incorporation of recommendations into engineering reports
-Communication: Listen effectively, transmit information accurately and understandably, and actively seek feedback from experienced engineers, project managers, etc.
-Dependability/Reliability: Follow through on commitments, timely delivery on projects, assigned tasks
-Flexibility: Willing to perform a wide range of tasks, positive response to changes in direction and priorities, and acceptance of new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
Intern Education and Program Requirements
-Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science (or other related degree), at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
-Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
