Buyer (Consultant)


  1. Lead cross-functional team to define and develop segment purchasing strategies.

  2. Lead cross-functional team to make supplier selection and negotiate agreements.

  3. Secure overall good supplier relationship through conducting business review meetings regularly.

  4. Close monitoring of supplier performance and take corrective actions where needed.

  5. Work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, to secure the project deliveries on QDCF for both start-up projects and maintenance projects.

  6. Drive continuously on cost improvement activities, with good knowledge of Volvo Production System. Generate cost savings through creativities and cross functional workshops, including engineering, logistics and plant.

  7. Maintain good overview and coordination of common suppliers between UD Trucks & JVs Purchasing and Group Truck Purchasing(GTP) / other Business areas. Secure always a hand shake in between.

  8. Drive and achieve the target on MCE/cost saving per truck, Delivery Precision, Contract Coverage, Local Content Requirements.

  9. Support to improve the customer focus by jointly solving the quality issues, improve PPM/QPM and QJ lead time.

  10. Closely monitor market developments, trends and the best practices available in the market

Competences required:

  1. Lead cross-functional team to define and develop segment purchasing strategies.

  2. Negotiate supplier agreements and commercial issues.

  3. Cost analysis skills, be the expert in the assigned commodities on component cost management.

  4. Make and recommend the best business case

  5. Good knowledge on total cost ownership, including logistics and overall supply chain.

  6. Project management skills

  7. Coordinate and drive supplier management meetings.

  8. Act as supplier relationship host.

  9. Customer focus.

  10. Entrepreneur spirit.


  1. Min 5 years of purchasing supplychain/logistics/material management experience

  2. University degree in Business, Engineering or related field

  3. Previous experience in Purchasing and/or negotiation experience in a supplier/customer relationship. Automotive experience is beneficial.

  4. Other essential competencies: Fluent in English, Strategic orientation, Strong negotiator, Business Acumen, Cost Management, Legal Management, Relevant process & system knowledge, Priority Setting, Integrity and Trust, Drive for results, Customer focus.
